About Us
A 501(c)3 Non-profit Dedicated to Active Philanthropy
Here at Coast to Coast for Hope, we have a simple philosophy:
We believe that monumental challenges inspire hope.
People faced with life-threatening illness confront monumental challenges head on, and their courage and experiences inspire hope in all of us. When athletes in our organization set out to confront monumental challenges such as bicycling across the United States, they draw from this spirit of hope and seek to give back by advancing a noble cause. Challenge inspires hope, hope inspires challenge.
Coast to Coast for Hope was founded in 2003 as several graduating seniors from Hamilton College set off on a bike ride across the United States. Their goal was to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Click here to learn more about the inaugural ride over the summer of 2004.
The inaugural ride was an incredible success; thanks in part to matching grant from AT&T, the team was able to donate over $35,000 directly to the American Cancer Society for cancer research. But as the group finished pedaling, they realized that they couldn’t simply close the book on this incredible experience. They had learned so much and had traveled so far. Family, friends, businesses and countless people along the path of their journey had given them such kind support. The team agreed to keep the organization alive in hopes of one day growing it to advance its mission of active philanthropy to even more riders and more people across the United States.
Over the summer of 2007, a new team of riders will take to the road and engage people across the land in conversations about cancer and pedal hard in support of those who face the disease. Click here to learn more about the 2007 team.
